Appendix B

The watershed of Highland Lake encompasses over 4,000 acres and includes the land surrounding Highland Lake, Crystal Lake, and Winchester Club Pond. These lakes are also connected by Sucker Brook, Taylor Brook, and smaller ponds. Just beyond the official boundary of the Highland Lake watershed lies Rugg Brook Reservoir, which has tributaries flowing into the Mad River. Thus, there is an enormous network of waterbodies all located in the Town of Winchester.

The Town of Winchester has the responsibility of monitoring and maintaining these waterbodies; however, it must also be protected by the individual property owners who reside, own property, or run businesses within its boundary.

We hope to help you to understand your part in maintaining the quality of the water and to provide you with the rules and regulations governing the use of the lake.
